Outdoor Jargon #2

Jargon #1:
free-standing

Definition:
A tent that will not collapse or topple without stakes and/or guylines.

That was a great effort by those who participated.

Jargon #2:
footprint

Hint: This has nothing to do with a sasquatch.

Good Luck!

I'm going to have to agree with big john. A pad to keep your tent floor from touching the bare ground.

Yeah, okay. That's a really good answer and maybe right. But I'll just mix things up a little. A footprint is one of those spikey shoe things for rock climbing. Hmmm...I guess that would make this blog "Global Rock Climber." Whatever.

People PLEASE... what school did you all go to? A footprint is what your foot leaves behind while walking in the sand or snow. Geez... it is tough being a genius.

Footprint is the space the tent occupies on the ground. Big tents have big footprints, small tents have small footprints.
